“Doc” Messina got his nick-name the hard way . . . he earned it! He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music Education, a Master’s degree in Telecommunications, and a Doctoral degree in Education. Besides having been a professional musician since the 60s, he has a lifetime of experience as an educator and professional trainer. He’s worked in television and in the financial services industry. In other words, he just can’t seem to hold down a steady job!!
People sometimes ask if I think I’m a little old to be embarking on yet another leg of my musical journey. In fact, I feel like I’m finally coming into my own as a writer and recording artist. Also, just as John Denver captured the imagination of a generation by writing and singing about a new relationship with life and nature, I would love to become the “voice” of a generation of folks who have already lived full lives and feel the need to reflect upon where they’ve been and where they hope they are going.
